A Connecticut resident was out enjoying the late-summer air earlier this week when the quiet tranquility of that peaceful moment was unexpectedly shattered.

In an instant, and for no obvious reason to him, there was a sudden cacophony of shouts and screams, and more than a little commotion. It was clearly quite perplexing.

Interestingly enough, that moment was caught on camera:

The “he” in this scenario was, of course, was a rather chubby bear.

While off on a stroll through a neighborhood, he’d inadvertently run across Kristen Lee and her family sitting and playing in their driveway. And though it seems the bear really had no interest in spoiling the fun, his presence alone did have that effect.

For a moment, as the family fled into the house in fear, the bear appears to pause — curious, perhaps, about what the big deal could possibly be?

Given the surprise arrival of the bear in their yard, it’s hard to blame the family for reacting the way they did. In fact, they did just the right thing.

According to the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection’s “The Basics of Living with Black Bears”: “If you see a bear in your yard, do not approach it! Go into your house, garage, or other structure.”

Check. Check.
