August 16th, 2024, marked 47 years since Elvis Presley was confirmed dead after he was found unconscious in his bathroom at Graceland estate. His ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, marked the anniversary with a touching Instagram video showing a single photo of young Elvis gradually zooming out.

Playing over the snap was an instrumental of Elvis’ 1972 cover song “Always on My Mind,” with Priscilla’s caption echoing the same sentiment. “47 years and not a day goes by that I don’t think of you,” she wrote, accompanied by a rose emoji.

Fans react to Priscilla Presley’s tribute to Elvis

Elvis fans did not hesitate to express their grief in the comments, praising the late legend and Priscilla for the love they shared, however controversial at the time. “Thinking of you and your family today, Priscilla. Always hold the precious memories close to your heart and remember the beautiful times you had together! I’m sending you all my love,” someone wrote.

Another called Priscilla his “only and true love,” adding that fate and destiny made them meet in Germany in 1959. “Elvis chose you to be his wife out of all the ladies on the Planet. You were blessed with your family. Thinking of you today. Forever in our hearts as he left us with the most beautiful music of all time,” a third user added.

Priscilla’s wish to be buried next to Elvis

Priscilla has been vocal about her desire to be buried next to Elvis and their late daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, after her passing. However, this was initially disputed after a legal battle with Lisa Marie’s daughter, Riley Keough, over the ownership of Graceland.

Although not to Priscilla’s taste, a settlement was reached late last year with Riley agreeing to her burial on the property — but not next to Elvis. A fan addresses the issue in the comments of the actress’ recent tribute, noting that Priscilla deserves the same respect Elvis got. “I got nothing but love for you, Priscilla, and for all you have done for Elvis,” they penned.
